Antique Tractor Restoration Tips

Restoring your old farm tractor can be expensive and time consuming. Bringing new life to that old piece of iron you've worked for years can be very enjoyable. Seeing the finished product can be one of the most gratifying experiences but it doesn't necessarily have to be hard or expensive. Money can be saved with a little thought and the satisfaction of doing it yourself is very rewarding. Check out some of the tips we have here. They might show you a new way to tackle a farm tractor restoration project or inspire a few new ideas of your own.

  • Repair Your Farmall Cub Steering Support - The steering support on a Farmall Cub is definitely weak point. Instead of paying $35-$40 for a replacement, why not repair the one you have. Here is a repair that takes little time and costs almost nothing.

  • Restoring And Painting Emblems - Nothing ads the final touches to a restoration project like nice looking emblems. Sometimes replacement emblems are not available or are very expensive. This is the easy way to make them look as good as new.

  • Rusty Radiator Bolts - If you have ever tried to remove the radiator mounting bolts from a Farmall Cub tractor or similar type radiator with rusty bolts, fear not. It's easier than you think.

  • Make Your Own Gaskets - Ordering and getting the right gaskets can not only run up the cost of a restoration project, it can be downright frustrating sometimes. Take the easy, cost effective route. Make your own, it's easier than your think.

  • Repairing Your Grille - I won't call this repair exactly easy, but it did save a lot of money compared to buying a replacement grille for our Farmall Cub.
